Procedure

What is otoplasty?

Otoplasty is the surgical correction of the shape and position of the ears. The most common reason for application is the structure of "prominent ears" protruding outward.

A small concern since childhood, resolved with a single operation — and endless self-confidence.

The ear cartilage is reshaped and, when needed, brought closer to the head. As the incision is hidden behind the ear, it is not visible.

II
Techniques

Method selection.

The most suitable technique for the patient is selected among the main approaches below:

01

Classic Otoplasty

Cartilage shaping and suspension. The most frequently applied method.

02

Suture Otoplasty

Ear shaping only with sutures, without incision. For mild cases.

03

Revision

Correction of unsatisfactory results from previous otoplasty.

III
Candidates

Who is a candidate?

Otoplasty is suitable for any individual aged 5–6+ whose ear development is complete.

  • Children 5+ (ear development 90% complete)
  • Adults with prominent ears
  • Asymmetric ear structure
  • Irregularities in ear folds
  • Individuals with self-confidence / psychological distress

Note: Having it done before school age in children reduces potential psychological impact — an important timing choice.

IV
Recovery

Process timeline.

First week

Ear bandage is worn. Mild tightness is normal.

Week 2

Bandage removed. Return to social life. Night headband continues.

Months 1 – 2

Night headband continues. Careful with ear contact.

Months 3 – 6

Final form settles. Full return to activities.
